224: DENIAL, DISAPOINTMENT AND BEING MISDIAGNOSED WITH JUSTINE FROELKER

Today is an incredibly special episode that was recorded specifically for The Professional Patient Series for The Happy Workaholic Podcast. Tune in to hear the epic conversation I had with Justine Froelker about her health journey, being misdiagnosed, trauma, patient advocacy, and the healing process.

Going through a health matter is difficult but when you run a business online and have an audience it is also hard to share. How much and for how long do you do so? Should you just keep it to yourself and not share. These are just some of the decisions we both had to make many years ago which you will hear more on today and why we chose to both be vocal.

Our mission with this episode is to raise more awareness on patient advocacy, mental health, trauma, what it’s like to be misdiagnosed and the many ways you can choose to heal your mind, body and soul.

Justine is a Licensed Professional Counselor. For over seven years Justine has been certified in the work of Dr. Brené Brown. She has over 20 years of experience in traditional mental health and personal growth. Justine is the author of three best-selling books and was also honored to do TEDx Talks at TEDxUMDearborn and TEDxLaSierraUniversity.

Before the Pandemic she traveled nationally delivering keynotes, workshops, and trainings on topics such as leadership, courage, resilience, and much more. Justine lives in St. Louis with her husband Chad, their three dogs and for four months of the year hundreds of monarch butterflies.

Today Justine will be sharing the wild ride she has had when it comes to her health journey. From youth to her teenage years to her current situations.

She explains why trauma and loss are such a part of our health stories and why you can never stop advocating for yourself.

From an early age Justine was misdiagnosed. She had surgeries in the 90’s (pre-robots) and even ended up in a body cast as part of recovery. Wait until to hear this story!

We’re also getting into the exact triggers for Justine as well as the healing aspect and the dental work that comes along with that. You’ll hear both of our stories today.

In order to heal please know that you must be willing to put in the work and that having a routine will help not only with your sanity but your overall wellbeing.
