SKINCARE IS THE BEST CARE!

When I was younger my focus was always on the makeup and the color. Then when I became a Pro Artist I started paying attention to the skin more. You must have skin prepped properly in order to achieve the best makeup look!

Now…As I am getting “older” I am more focused on my skin rather than all the color. Go figure!

Two things my skin can simply not live without are a deep exfoliation and a fantastic face mask! They make a world of a difference. I exfoliate every other day. A deep treatment once a month and face mask every two weeks. I like to alternate a deep cleansing mask with a hydrating mask. It honestly depends on how my skin is feeling that week! I have a whole bunch of products I like to use which you can find on my Instagram Stories later today…

To kick off Beauty Week I asked a few Skincare Pro’s to share some information with us. Some of their tips and tricks. You will see all of them below. Where to find them will be listed so that if they are in your area you can contact them for a consultation. Just click on their name or social page and you will be sent to them directly.

Be sure to tell them I sent you 🙂

I would also like to add that if you have any questions please leave them in the comments below for our Q&A this weekend!

Tip #1: Never, ever wash your face in the shower!! I have learned over the past 17 years of doing skin care on a professional level, that many people get into the habit of washing their face in the shower and this is a huge no, no!! Why you ask? The temperature of the water used to wash your body is usually much hotter than the temperature we should be washing our face with. When you wash your face with water that is too hot, it will strip your skins natural oil production and will dry your skin out causing premature wrinkling. Always wash your face with room temperature water. (Not very hot and not very cold either) as water that’s too cold, can strip your skin as well and dehydrate it. If you can’t get out of the habit of washing your face in the shower, simply change the temperature of the water right before you wash your face and make the water room temperature. You will see an improvement in the hydration of your skin, when you give this trick a go…

Tip #2: Be very gentle with your face when you wash and dry it every single day. Think of your skin as an elastic, at first it is very tight and will bounce right back when stretched however, the more you pull at that elastic, the looser it will become. Your skin works the same way as that elastic. When we are born we have lots of Collagen and elasticity on our skin. The older we get, our skin looses Collagen production and elasticity which leads to wrinkles and since your skin is aging every day, we need to play our part in preventing further damage. In a nut shell, be very gentle and do not pull and tug at your face, treat it delicately and you will preserve its appearance for years to come.

Tip #3: Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate!! I can’t stress enough the importance of incorporating an exfoliant into your skin care routine. Your skin is constantly shedding dead skin cells every single day. These dead skin cells act as a barrier preventing any skin care products that you are using on your face to fully penetrate your skin and also will make your skin look dull. This is where exfoliation plays such an important part in your skin care routine. How often should you exfoliate? Every 3rd day is perfect. (If you exfoliate every single day, it will strip your skin and may even cause a rash) always exfoliate during the morning because your skin sheds skin while your sleep. Invest in a good quality exfoliant as not all exfoliants are created equal. Some drugstore exfoliants are too aggressive and can make your skin irritated. I absolutely love Pevonia’s Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser which I use on all of my clients when doing facials and we sell at my spa. If you have Rosacea or very sensitive skin, invest in a gentle exfoliant which is made for sensitive or Rosacea skin as using a harsh exfoliant on any kind of sensitive skin including anyone with acne, is never a good idea.

Tip #1: Commit to a Hydra Facial once a month to improve the appearance of skin and restore a youthful, healthy glow. These specific facials are great for all skin types so need need to shy away.

Tip #2: To “shave” time off a morning routine laser hair removal is THE BEST! And the best part is after 6-8 sessions of laser treatments there is no longer a need to shave. All you will need in one yearly touch up!

Tip #3: Eyebrow Microblading.*

Tips for Acne Sufferers

Tip #1: Change your pillowcases nightly or at least every other day because your face is soaking up product you have in your hair which could be apart of the reason you break out.

Tip #2: Invest in a ear piece so your phone never touches your face.

Tip #3: I cut down my dairy intake and started taking a daily probiotic. Removing dairy out my diet has been a bit difficult but when I look at my face it’s definitely worth it so a few tacos with sour cream and cheese don’t seem like a big deal anymore.

Now how was that for some in depth skincare knowledge?

All I know is that I will be changing my sheets tonight and taking my face wash out of the shower! How about you?
