As someone who grew up in a small town in the smallest state I can really relate to community and always needing one around. I believe taking part in groups or meetings (in person or online) is so important. They will allow you to grow in a way that you did not ever expect. On a personal level and maybe even professional depending on the situation and group you choose to become a part of.
Groups will also introduce you to other like minded individuals that in some case could become long lasting friendships. Some can even change your overall mindset and life! Crazy right? But oh so true…
There are thousands of groups that you are able to become a part of online. Most are free and some may charge a small fee but I am sure it would be worth it. I’m sure you’ve heard many people preach “find your tribe”. I am a huge believer in finding one or many that you can relate to and really want to become a part of. One that the message of the group just speaks to you. That is when you know it’s right…
Whether you are a new mom (or dad), recently relocated, looking to grow your business or self, maybe even searching for others that can relate to an illness, hobby or craft you love. The place you should look for these groups is online.
Years ago before the internet. Do you even remember that? There were so many groups formed at the YMCA, churches and schools. Now those are even available online.
If you have never been involved in an online group before it is ok. You can ease yourself into them. By that I mean become a part of the group first. See what everyone has to say and when you feel the time is right, introduce yourself and join in the conversations.
I have always been a very outgoing person so it’s been pretty easy for me to join a group and be vocal right away. However, I do have quite a number of friends that are not like me. So I know it is much harder for them to be able to just join a group and say hello. So I give them the advice I just mentioned. There is no rush. Just ease into it.
If you can’t find what you are looking for then by all means organize your thoughts and create your very own platform. I have three groups on Facebook. One for health, wellness and anyone suffering with health issues called Just For Us. One for The Happy Workaholic Podcast After Show and a private one for The Happy Workaholic Coaching Clients.
There are a few excellent groups that I have been a part of for a year now on Facebook that I wanted to share with you. They have helped me tremendously in my own transition and journey and definitely more than I ever expected. Personally and professionally!
Slay Baby Collective and Slay Baby Bosses were created by Cara Alwill Leyba. You may know her as a Best Selling Author and the world famous creator of The Champagne Diet and she even has a podcast now. It’s called Style Your Mind just like her new book. Side note: Download her podcast today because it is a no BS, inspiring , motivating and truly amazing show.
As of today there are almost 10,000 ladies in SBC and 7,000 in SBB. Women who support, uplift and empower each other from all around the world. Ladies who need a place to celebrate or maybe even vent. Either way everyone has a unique story and this is a place that we are not afraid to share it. A judgement free zone consisting of constant uplifting and celebration for one another!
I have met so many inspiring woman in this group. You know that feeling when you think that you are all alone in the world? Well that thought does not even cross my mind when I spend time learning and listening in this group.
All I can say is thank you Cara for creating such an incredible network that I am able to be a part of! It has truly changed me…
Permission to Hustle was created by business partners Audrey Couto McClelland (MomGenerations) and Vera Sweeney (Lady and the blog) Audrey and Vera.
PTH Group description: Giving ourselves the permission to hustle. Lifting one another up as we soar.
There are almost 3,000 members in this group, rapidly growing and all wanting to hustle and do so in their businesses. Every day Audrey and Vera post a tip, quote or challenge, which I love by the way. They range from allowing yourself the opportunity to work a certain way to knowing when to give yourself a moment to take a break or to take the next step in your business. Whether it be spending time with your family or maybe even yourself. A great book and bubble bath is always a good idea…
Either way we have all learned that we can give ourselves that permission and we also deserve it because we all work so hard!
There are business professionals and entrepreneurs from all around the world networking, sharing, suggesting and strategizing with each other. You may even come across a job opportunity. Empowering at all times and obviously all giving our self as well as each other the “permission to hustle”.
Thank you Audrey and Vera for creating such a motivating platform for all of us to be a part of!
In a time like today we all need groups like these. I know I definitely do…
A lot has changed in my personal life this past year. I was diagnosed with NMO Disease and currently undergoing Chemo treatments once a month to prevent a relapse. Oh! I’m also trying to run a business. Working has always kept my mind off things but I know I need to stay true to my reality and try not to exhaust myself. I try to stay as positive as possible every day but I am human so there are some days like last weekend when I thought my time was up and I just wanted to give up. Lifting a finger felt like a bus ran over my body and I was stuck in bed for almost three days. This was my first time experiencing this from my Chemo. So I’ guess I have been quite lucky as I’m going on treatment 8 this month.
This week I am back and refreshed because I am a fighter and I have a lot to say and share. I’m resharing my How To Series every day this month on Medium and right here on my blog. I am also in the middle of my LEVERAGE YOUR LINKEDIN VIDEO SERIES on LinkedIn as well.
Being vocal about my health sometimes hurts but I know that by doing so I am able to let others know that they are not alone. I have met other woman in Facebook groups with chronic illnesses and we now empower each other. If it wasn’t for communities online I wouldn’t have this opportunity.
The point of me writing this in the Get Organized part of my How To Series is for three reasons…
One: You need to organize your thoughts. Get a journal and write sh*t down. I’m telling you from my own experience you will feel a lot better. Just like everything else in your home that is placed properly you need to do the same with your mind and your feelings.
Two: Organize yourself online and join groups that you want to be a part of. One that speaks to you, one that you truly need in your life. For you, your business or both. If you cannot find one create it yourself!
Three: I need a creative outlet and want to be able to share my thoughts and everything I know with everyone this November. And if I can help a few people along the way then I know I am doing something right…
Most importantly, know that you are never ever alone!
Until tomorrow…
